Requirements: Install a SMUD approved Heat Pump Water Heater with a minimum Uniform Energy Factor of 2.87 or greater and a minimum 50 gallon or greater capacity and a Thermostatic Mixing Valve.

Gas-conversion applications must be submitted with before and after photos, which must include:
1) Gas water heater and surrounding area.
2) New Electric HPWH and surrounding area.
3) Mixing valve installed on new water heater.

$1,000 rebate for SMUD customers replacing an existing electric water heater.
$3,000 rebate for SMUD customers with an existing gas water heater converting to an electric HPWH.
